Back in 2002, the first official Victoria Police Dauphin helicopter (VH-PVF) was decommissioned when it was replaced after 23 years of stirling service over Melbourne.
PVF now sits in the corner of a hangar gathering dust, some of its parts used to support the remaining helicopter of its type (PVA), but PVA will soon also be replaced.
It has been suggested that PVF be restored to its former glory (externally at least) and mounted on a pole outside the Glen Waverley police academy grounds as a tribute to its service and as a monument for the Victoria Police Force.
Parts from old PVA could be used to restore PVF into a presentable state by aircraft engineers who would give up some free time to do the work, or if we could convince the police management to put some funding into the project.
If you like this idea, please reply to this message on this forum and show your support. If we get enough support, the petition can be shown to management to try and stimulate more interest in the project.
I hope we can get something happening!
Andrew.

I am all-for this idea. Wish for something to happen sooner rather than later.
To have PVF mounted at the Police Academy would be a fantastic idea. The original, the first, the best. Go Foxy!
I agree it should be sitting around in a dusty hangar, why not put it to good use On Display, was a wonderful machine back in the day...
what a waste having it gather dust. i agree use it it will look perfect up there.
I fully support this idea. Strip out all useful internal parts and display the shell with blades (timed out ones) on a pole outside of the academy. The Victorian police are at the forefront of policing from the air and have set the standard that only other states could dream of following!
