Movie Review: House (1986)#1

House is a horror-comedy that I used to watch when I was a kid. It had one scary scene for me, the rest being entertaining fun. It stars William Katt who moves into his aunty's big house after she commits suicide. He is a Vietnam veteran who came home with guilt over leaving an injured friend who got captured and tortured. He has also split from his wife after their son went missing.

He is an accomplished writer who has moved into this house for some solitude so he can write his Vietnam War memoirs.

He soons discovers that the house is haunted and that some things suggest that his missing son is somehow trapped in the ghost world of the house. He meets the neighbours (one played by Goerge Wendt, Norm was Cheers) and starts bumping into ghosts and monsters. A great few scenes involve the closet upstairs.

It has many funny moments, uses puppetry and stop animation for effects and has spawned several sequels. The ending is a bit lite but it is a fun film nevertheless.

OOOoo
