The Thomas Mason Gallery is now online to view rare behind-the-scenes photos from the production of the Blue Thunder film.
With much thanks to Gary Mason, we can now see never-before-seen photos of the two Blue Thunder helicopters taken during behind-the-scenes moments of the film. These photos show the two Blue Thunder helicopters on the pad at the LAPD rooftop heliport, including interior shots.
Some of the photos were taken by Gary himself, however the majority of them were taken by his father, Thomas Mason. Thomas sold one, possibly two, of the Aerospatiale Gazelle helicopters to the production company for the making of the film and personally flew one of the machines for the delivery.
There will be more fascinating photos coming, including further Blue Thunder shots and flying scenes featuring the Hughes 500 and Jetranger helicopters.
The photos can be found in the Multimedia area.
Thanks, Gary!
