Hello my name is Mark, I have been a fan of Blue Thunder ever since the movie and series came out, and probably another reason I work in aviation today, If anyone knows the boneyards where the reamains of the Blue Thunder helicopters are being kept I would like to find them and restore them back to there flying former condition, or even the mockup thats was at disney, any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank You

I remember sneaking into Blue Thunder, as a child. I purchased a ticket to the movie version of Annie, went into the bathroom until the coast was clear, and raced into the theater before any of the employees saw me. Still one of my faves!

For any one who might be interested please check out if you can a paperback copy of Martin Caidin's novel The Messiah Stone, the artwork on the cover, those helicopters in the background look like a modified Blue Thunder.

Hi Dave. He was known as Grundelius and was played by actor Anthony James.

31. Dave West (6.10.2011)

I remember back in 82 when they were filming Blue Thunder over the skys of Hollywood and L.A. As a kid I wondered what the hell it was! I call LAPD air Support Who I knew a little bit having a friend pilot. I heard that the original ship is NOW in terriible shape without an engine and the front gun and camera removed. The paint has turned a dull grey and just sits there with a for sale sign on it. That is so sad! If I won the lottery I would buy it and refurbish it to it's original glory.

28. NORM HUGHES (20.5.2011)
I have a picture of Blue Thunder that was taken at an air show. It was on a trailer and was for sale. It didn't have the enging and was pretty beat up. I will forward if anyone is interested.

27. NORM HUGHES (20.5.2011)
I have a photo of Blue Thunder that I took at an air show. It was a static display on a trailer and was for sale. the engine was missing and it was pretty beat up. I would be happy to send it to you if interested.

Hi, I am building a large radio controlled Blue Thunder - kit supplied by "Smart Model", and I am looking for accurate details on the decals.
I can draw them up in AutoCAD and have them printed but I can not find details of the actual text.
Can anyone help with this?
Thank you...

@Fixer
thank you I got map.
I can enjoy by you.
A-RI-GA-TOU(meaning thank you in japanese)

22. Fixer (27.5.2010)
@derra! Search Google Maps for 555 Ramirez St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. That's the LAPD Air Support Division (zoom in and you'll see the helipad and helicopters). Go east a bit to the river, then south. Not sure what exact bridges were in the movie, but probably between 1st and 6th Streets. (I believe Blue Thunder cuts the police car in half on the 1st Street bridge.)

21. derra! (16.5.2010)
where is the sequence of river chase.
around E 6th St? E 4th St?
I will go to LA this June.
I couldn't serch there.
thank you from Japan.

I just wanted to say that i bought this movie on dvd the other day and it brought back memories. My father is a movie theater manager her in Clovis, New Mexico. at one time he knew a man here by the last name of Hoffman. He had Hoffman Aviation at our airport. Mr. Hoffman was able to get a hold of at least two of these beauties. My father had a special viewing of Blue Thunder in the mid '80's and had one of the static models right in front of the theater. Gretest memory of my life1

16. Jim Stapenell (18.1.2010)
I have been looking for a kit for radio controlled Blue Thunder. I read on a site (can't remember where) that there is a fibreglass kit produced in Australia... Don't s'pose anyone might know the name of the company where I can get a kit? The kit is suitable for T-Rex 600 mechanics. I know there are suppliers overseas - but I live in Australia (Hobart) and freight costs will be reasonable. Hope someone can help.
Great site....

6. Gary Mason (28.7.2009)
Would you like photos taken of Blue Thunder taken during the filming of the LA street chase scene in December 1981? My father sold the Gazelles used for Blue Thunder and was invited to the set that day by Jim Gavin, second unit director.

5. Michael Dalton (18.7.2009)
Definately enjoyed the original 1983 film and the two fan fiction sequels. Are you going to re-post them? They were great.

Since Roy Scheider has passed away, watching the movie has definately not been the same. Which is probably why the Blue Thunder mini series Thunderheat has been discontinued by the author. Something which is understandable.
